Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me viewers were left in tears during the star's powerful ITV documentary on Thursday night. The presenter, 51, announced in September last year that she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery a month later. The hour-long programme documented the star's battle showing her diagnosis, mastectomy and the support from her loved ones.
During one emotional moment, Julia's mother Chrissi, who is in her 80s and previously battled bowel cancer, said: "When she told us she had been diagnosed, I was shellshocked. "I can't tell you how I felt because I didn't even know myself. I still don't know other than if someone had said: 'Can you take it away from her and you can have it?', I'd have said, 'yes'." While Julia's father, Michael, who previously battled prostate cancer, said: "Of course it did help that she, Julia, tackled it head on by coming to see us. "We can't put ourselves in those shoes, we don't know just when she's feeling scared, particularly vulnerable. All you can do is be there and provide, you know, whatever you can." Viewers were left in tears over Julia's mum's heartbreaking reaction and the powerful documentary.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: " Oh @JuliaBradbury your lovely Mum." A different account put: "@JuliaBradbury Oh your mum," followed with heartbroken emojis. Another fan wrote: "Thankyou @JuliaBradbury for your honesty and openness in the breast cancer documentary , you’re inspiring …. And your mum is amazing."
