IDLES play secret ‘Brutalism’ set at Glastonbury 2022

IDLES played a surprise set at Glastonbury 2022 today (Saturday June 25), performing their debut album ‘Brutalism’ in full.Taking to the stage in the 12.30pm slot on the BBC Introducing Stage, the Bristol band tore through the entirety of their 2017 debut, described at the time by NME as “an expletive-laden, punk triumph that tackles the current Tory rule, toxic masculinity and mental health.”They were introduced onstage by radio legend Steve Lamacq, who labelled them “one of the most Incendiary, caring and thought-provoking bands of the last decade”. The group paid him back in kind with a dedication ahead of ‘Well Done’, before breaking into an impromptu verse of Green Day’s ‘Basket Case’.During ‘Exeter’,  a young fan named Daisy was pulled out of the crowd to play guitar.

Bastille played a secret set at Glastonbury 2022 tonight (June 23), backed by the 10-piece brass band Ol’ Dirty Brasstards.The band were the surprise guests on the William’s Green stage and performed after festival founder Michael Eavis’ traditional covers set.“Tonight we are Brasstille and the Brasstards… or something,” Bastille frontman Dan Smith joked as the expanded band took to the stage. As fans waited for the set to begin, they chanted the refrain from their hit single ‘Pompeii’.The secret performance began with a version of the band’s 2016 single ‘Good Grief’, before Smith told the crowd: “We are so ridiculously fucking happy to be at Glastonbury.” Smith said afterwards, “I can’t believe we get to play after Michael Eavis, what the fuck.”As the set continued, Bastille aired versions of ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’ and ‘Quarter Past Midnight’, both backed by rousing crowd singalongs.

Kalush Orchestra have been announced to perform at Glastonbury 2022.The group won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Turin last month with the song ‘Stefania’.Now, they’ve been confirmed to appear at Glastonbury 2022, which will also mark their first ever UK performance.
