Harry Styles' new album has found its first passionate fan in none other than folk legend Joni Mitchell.
Yesterday, Harry surprised practically everyone by announcing the release of his third studio album, Harry's House, in May. His last record, Fine Line, dropped in 2019, and Harry hasn't released a single in about a year - so it was about time for a return.
Joni herself reaching out to acknowledge the title is great on a number of levels. Not only has Harry spoken of her influence in interviews in the past, but the name of his album could also be considered a tribute to Joni herself - who released a song titled Harry's House/Centrepiece on her 1975 album The Hissing of Summer Lawns.
Taking to Twitter and Instagram, Joni re-shared Harry's announcement, saying: "Love the title." Listen, we never said she was a woman of many words. But that's cute, right?
Fans have already started theorising about the content of Harry's House - the cover of which sees Harry stand inside a house that seems to have turned upside down. In the enigmatic teaser video announcing the album's arrival, Harry literally constructs a house on a stage.
So far, the consensus seems to be that this album will be all about constructing a home for yourself to feel safe, no doubt inspired by Harry's own experiences of the pandemic and finding a partner in American director and actress Olivia Wilde.

Chris Willman Music WriterWith due respect to Joni Mitchell’s lyrical prowess, never were there less prophetic words than “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone” — if only for the due that Mitchell herself is receiving while she is around to take it in. Harry Styles has shared his new single "As It Was," the first from his upcoming third studio album Harry's House, out on May 20. Harry Styles has reportedly quit Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake with Anya Taylor-Joy.According to The New Yorker, the actor and musician was briefly attached to the project reuniting Eggers with The Witch and The Northman star Taylor-Joy.A representative for Styles then confirmed the news to Variety, citing scheduling concerns as the reason for Styles’ exit.Eggers’ remake was first reported in 2017, with Taylor-Joy initially attached since starring in the director’s first feature.“It was an indie horror in its day, a bit rough around the edges yet it’s one of the greatest and most haunting films ever made,” the filmmaker had told Shudder of his love for the original horror film.“The newly restored colour tinted versions are really impressive, but I still prefer the poor black and white versions made from scraps of 16mm prints. Those grimy versions have an uncanny mystery to them and helped build the myth of Max Shreck being a real vampire.”Meanwhile, Harry Styles is set to release his new single ‘As It Was’ this Friday (April 1), ahead of his forthcoming album ‘Harry’s House’.Joni Mitchell – of whom Styles is a noted fan – recently shared her approval of the name of Styles’ upcoming album.Mitchell, who wrote the song ‘Harry’s House/Centerpiece’ as part of 1975 album ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’, retweeted Styles’ post announcing ‘Harry’s House’ and wrote “love the title”.
