The classic musical Merrily We Roll Along is rolling back into the New York theater scene for the holiday season and a star-studded cast is attached!
Jonathan Groff and Tony winner Lindsay Mendez are joining the previously announced Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming production at Off-Broadway’s New York Theatre Workshop.
The revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth‘s beloved musical will be directed by Olivier winner Maria Friedman, who previously directed productions of the musical in the UK.
“Told in reverse chronological order, the musical explores the relationships between composer Franklin Shepard (Groff) and his lifelong friends—Charley (Radcliffe), a lyricist and playwright, and Mary (Mendez), a writer—across three decades,” according to Playbill.
Preview performances begin on November 21 ahead of an official opening on December 12. The limited engagement will end on January 8.
There’s a movie version of Merrily that is currently in the works, but you won’t be seeing it in theaters for a LONG time.
