Dunham, at first, opened up about scenes that she described as «anxiety-inducing» even though she wrote them in the script herself, but then pivoted on how she met those challenges with the help of an unsung hero: Bernthal.«I knew the ways I’d felt, even when I was directing myself — overexposed, or scared, or not seen,» she said.

The official trailer has arrived for Showtime’s upcoming American Gigolo series, which is a reimagining of the iconic 1980 film.
The eight-episode original series will star Jon Bernthal in the titular role of Julian Kaye.
American Gigolo follows Julian Kaye (Bernthal) after his wrongful conviction release from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Julian struggles to reconcile the escort he was in the past and the man he is today, Detective Sunday (Rosie O’Donnell) seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way.

The series will air on Showtime, but you’ll be able to watch it first on streaming. The first episode will debut on Showtime Anytime and on-demand platforms on Friday, September 9 before the on-air debut on Sunday, September 11 at 9pm ET/PT on Showtime.
