LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – John Prine’s wife Fiona Whelan Prine issued a statement Wednesday following the death of the great singer-songwriter, who Bruce Springsteen called “one of the best we had,” from complications related to coronavirus. He was 73, and while both he and his wife were afflicted with the illness, she has since recovered.

On Tuesday, influential country folk singer John Prine died at 73 years old while hospitalized at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He passed away from complications due to coronavirus, his family confirmed to Rolling Stone.

Actor Allen Garfield, known for his roles in films like “The Conversation,” “The Candidate,” “The Stunt Man” and “Nashville,” died at age 80 due to complications from the coronavirus, according to multiple reports. Actress Ronee Blakely, who played Garfield’s on-screen wife in “Nashville,” shared the news of the actor’s death in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
