Jodie Comer to Star in Post-Apocalyptic Thriller ‘The End We Start From’

Helen McCrory's life has been celebrated at a star-studded memorial, one year after her shock death. The 52-year-old actress passed away in 2021 after a secret battle with breast cancer and stars including Benedict Cumberbatch. Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, and Keeley Hawes came together with her husband Damian Lewis, 51, and children Manon, 15 and Gulliver, 14, this week, to celebrate her life.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he once turned down the opportunity to play a Marvel villain.Before taking on the role of the surgeon-turned-sorcerer, the actor was approached to play Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World, a part that ultimately went to Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston.Recalling the offer in an interview with BBC Radio 1, Cumberbatch admitted that he was “flattered” to be “invited to the party” but that he was holding out for “something a bit more juicy.”“[The Doctor Strange role] happened as an idea muted after, funnily enough, another little dance I did for another character in the MCU, a very brief character,” he said.“I was bold enough to say: ‘I’m really flattered to be invited to the party, but I’d rather hold out for something a bit more juicy.’”Cumberbatch explained that his decision to turn down the villainous role was partly down to the fact that he’d just finished playing an antagonist in Star Trek: Into Darkness.The actor portrayed the iconic Star Trek villain Khan in the 2013 film. His casting as Doctor Strange was announced a year later.

Jodie Comer had the night of her life on Sunday as she took home the Leading Actress gong at the BAFTA TV Awards in London.The 29-year-old actress beat the likes of Mare of Easttown star Kate Winslet and It’s a Sin’s Lydia West to win for her role in the Channel 4 Covid-set drama Help. Speaking to reporters ahead of accepting her award, the actress had admitted she was "very nervous" about the possibility of taking to the stage to receive a BAFTA. In her acceptance speech, Jodie paid tribute to Channel 4 for "believing in the script from the very beginning" before going onto thank the carers who helped those involved in the show with their research, saying they were "incredibly gracious" with their time.

Post Malone will make his Saturday Night Live debut this week, having been announced as the musical guest for the May 14 episode.Selena Gomez will also be making her debut on the NBC programme as host, taking over from actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who presented the show over the weekend.It comes as Malone gears up to release his forthcoming album ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’, his first LP since 2019’s ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’, next month.So far, the rapper has only released one single from it, dropping ‘One Right Now’ with The Weeknd last November. However, last month on Instagram Live he shared snippets of a bunch of other collaborations set to appear on the album, including songs with Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold and The Kid LAROI.“I would love to play this entire record and I just want to say hey to everybody that’s hanging out,” he told fans during the livestream.

BAFTA TV Awards took place in London tonight (May 8), with Big Zuu, Jodie Comer and Jamie Demetriou leading the winners.The TV Awards celebrates and rewards the best programmes and performances of the last 12 months. This year’s ceremony was held at the Royal Festival Hall and was hosted by Richard Ayoade.Big Zuu was the night’s big winner, taking home two trophies for his food show Big Zuu’s Big Eats.

Usually sporting a short red haircut and dark brows, Olly surprised the red carpet when he arrived with bleached brows and a short hairstyle with shaved stripes into it.The star also wowed with his outfit, wearing a long black cape dress along with fitted black trousers and a pair of chunky platform boots.

The BAFTA TV Awards are back on our screens tonight and the nominations are as impressive as ever. It looks like it might be a big evening for the Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin and its stars Olly Alexander and Lydia West.

Jodie Comer looked extremely chic at the BAFTAs wearing a black suit dress and statement silver earrings.The actress, 29, renowned for her role as Villanelle in the BBC spy thriller Killing Eve, rocked up to the red carpet with her swept back hair and a glamorous makeup look. Jodie stopped to pose for photos, and showed off her black heels as she popped a leg forward and smiled for the camera.

Benedict Cumberbatch hosted tonight’s Saturday Night Live to promote his new movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He mentioned the hugely popular Marvel franchise in his opening monologue, and the movie also was referenced in the very last skit, cast member Chloe Fineman’s “The Understudy”.

The sketch opened with a voice-over and text scroll that made reference to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s citation of a 17th century British law as a justification for curbing rights protected for a half-century by the landmark 1973 Roe v.

Michelle Keegan and Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood have been announced among the presenters for the Bafta TV awards on Sunday. IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade will be hosting the awards for the third year in a row along with Vick Hope, reality TV star Sam Thompson and TV presenter Zeze Millz will hosting the red carpet show from 2pm.
