BAFTA TV Awards 2022 nominations, TV channel and start time

The BAFTA TV Awards are back on our screens tonight and the nominations are as impressive as ever. It looks like it might be a big evening for the Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin and its stars Olly Alexander and Lydia West.
It’s A Sin, which focuses on the start of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, leads the nominations with an incredible 11 nominations. Alexander and West are both up for leading actor awards and the production is up for a few more nominations.
The leading actor nominations also include Sean Bean, Stephen Graham, David Thewlis, Hugh Quarshie and Samuel Adewunmi. On the flip side for the leading actress nominations Lydia West will be battling Kate Winslet, Jodie Comer, Emily Watson, Denise Gough and Niamh Algar.

The Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards will begin on BBC One tonight (May 8). The red carpet event began at 2pm and can be watched via Facebook and Twitter.
The award show starts streaming at 6pm from London’s Royal Festival Hall. It will be hosted in-person by Richard Ayoade and the ceremony will be with a full audience for the first time since 2019.
We can tell you ahead of time there is one winner already announced for the prestigious BAFTA fellowship, which is the award ceremony's highest accolade in recognition of outstanding and exceptional contribution to the arts. Comedian Sir Billy Connolly will be honoured with the award later tonight and although he won’t be present, an recorded acceptance speech will be shown.
