Jason Derulo promised her a record deal but then pressured her for sex in exchange for her career advancing — as charged in a bombshell lawsuit. “I’m at this point in my life right now, it’s very heartbreaking,” Gibson, 25, told NBC News on Wednesday. Gibson moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to pursue a music career with her sisters Saiyr and Znuie, as the music act Ceraadi.
Their YouTube channel has over 1 million subscribers. Gibson’s sisters no longer work in music, but Gibson was hoping to pursue a solo career. In a lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Gibson alleges that Derulo eventually dropped her deal after she rejected his sexual advances and invitations to dine out and drink alcohol.
Gibson accuses the “Watcha Say” singer of quid pro quo sexual harassment. “I have anxiety; I’m traumatized. I’ve dealt with inhumane work situations … I’m at this point where I’m back to zero and I have nothing,” she said.
According to the lawsuit, in August 2021, Derulo reached out to Gibson to become involved in a venture between his music imprint, Future History, and Atlantic Records. The filing also said that her contract required her to have a single featuring Derulo, and to produce a mixtape in four months and an album in six.She began working with Derulo to create music to present to Atlantic Records executives, she said. During this time, Derulo often invited her to drinks and dinner at a members-only lounge.

The “Magic Mike” star revealed that the couple’s kids Jaden, now 25, and Willow, now 22, used to sleep in their bed as children and “continued to do so nightly for some years.”However, by the time Jaden was about 6, Jada claimed that the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star wasn’t in love with the family’s sleeping arrangements.“To give us our own space, I built a separate, beautiful love nest for us two grown-ups in our bedroom, complete with a domed ceiling full of twinkling stars,” Pinkett Smith wrote.“But over time, the kids hijacked that room as well,” she added, even though the youngsters were expected to sleep in their own bedrooms.
Beyond The Music‘ conference on Friday (October 13), Burnham said there needs to be a campaign to show how “critical” the situation has become for artists and venues alike.Back in 2021, the UK music industry spoke out on how they had essentially been handed a “No Deal Brexit” when the government failed to negotiate visa-free travel and Europe-wide work permits for musicians and crew.As a result, artists attempting to hit the road again after COVID found themselves on the predicted “rocky road” for the first summer of European touring after Britain left the EU – finding that the complications of Brexit were “strangling the next generation of UK talent in the cradle”.The government were then warned that musicians and crew “could find themselves unemployed en masse”, after a hearing at the House Of The Lords revealed the damage already being caused by Brexit on those wishing to tour Europe.Speaking alongside fellow northern mayors, Tracy Brabin of West Yorkshire and Steve Rotherham of the Liverpool City Region, Burnham said they all now need to work together to create a system that allows for musicians to travel freely throughout Europe.“I think as mayors we need to build this campaign really strongly from the bottom up to say this industry is critical to us, not marginal, critical, and we need an arrangement that allows for [the] free exchange of musicians touring here from Europe and for British musicians going [into Europe],” said Burnham.“For us, it’s absolutely critical to our visitor economy, but also just to the way our city regions are seen and known around Europe. It’s just a nonsense, isn’t it? You’re having to learn about ETIAS [visas to work in Europe] and all of this.
