James Caroll dead – Brookside and Coronation Street star dies as friends and fans pay tribute

Brookside and Coronation Street actor James Caroll has sadly died.The late actor was best known for playing Brian ‘Bumper’ Humphreys on the Channel 4 soap between 1988 and 1991. He also appeared as Mary Taylor’s friend Colin in Coronation Street earlier this year. James, who lived in Preston, Lancashire, is thought to have died suddenly.
Friends of the actor confirmed the sad news of his passing in a number of Facebook posts today, with many leaving tributes to the actor. One person wrote in tribute: “Rest in peace to an amazing person such a kind hearted man thinking of your family at this sad time”. Another friend added: “What a talented and bright man, you where so funny Jim, totally shocked, rest in peace.” One friend who knew James since childhood added: “I can't believe the sad news, what a funny , caring guy you were, grew up through school together , funny times when you were around, thinking of your family, rest in peace Jim, you will be a comedian up there x”. Another friend added: “RIP James you absolute legend ...The world has lost a truly amazing man.” James was also a keen singer and often performed at venues around the country in a two-piece band called 2 Toned. He is survived by his wife Justine and their two children, Tommy and James Jr.
