Supergran actress Gudrun Ure has tragically passed away at the age of 98.
The star, who found fame in the '80s children's TV series Supergran playing a grandma with superpowers, hailed from Stirlingshire, Scotland, and kicked off her acting career in an impressive array of series such as Casualty and Midsomer Murders since 1951. Heartbroken fans flooded X, previously known as Twitter, expressing their grief over her passing.
One wrote: "So sad to hear that actress Gudrun Ure has died today at the age of 98. Born in Milton in Campsie, she was a seasoned actress of stage and screen.
She was much-loved as Super Gran, the main character of the 1980s TV show." Gudrun's niece, Kate McNeill, confirmed her aunt's departure on a Facebook post. She described the actress as a "really kind" individual who would always cherish her recognition in her beloved role as Supergran.
Reminiscing their last meeting in December, McNeill shared that the veteran actress was excited about the news of rebooting the classic TV show into a modern film and could remember stars like George Best appearing on the popular show, reports the Mirror. Upon hearing the heartbreaking news, another fan shared on X: "Sad news coming in that Supergran AKA Gudru Ure has passed away at the grand old age of 98." Another chimed in: "Ah no! Loved Supergran.
Thanks for the memories Gudrun." A fourth expressed: "Supergran was a great kids show and the theme song was an absolute banger.
