I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! fan-favourite Tony Bellew has had his popularity skyrocketing since he joined this year's series, and now his wife has revealed the real reason he wanted to take part. The former boxer, 41, who became a champion during his time in the ring, has had viewers in hysterics with his blunt nature and Liverpudlian ways.
His banter with the other boys, especially Sam Thompson, who is the favourite to win the jungle-based competition, has also given him many more fans. But despite his cheeky ways, Tony's determination for doing the show lies with his beloved late nan Rose. Rose sadly died in November, only 24 hours after the sportsman discovered he was officially taking part on the show after signing his contract.
And when Tony gets back to the UK, he will be gearing up to attend his family member's funeral.
Tony hasn't made much mention of the loss in the jungle so far, save for a bittersweet moment when he dedicated his Jungle Arms karaoke song to his nan. After crooning out the classic track L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, Tony could be heard saying softly: "That was for my little nan." In a new interview, Rachael Bellew revealed just how much he'll be thinking of his grandmother in the jungle. "Rose would be so, so proud of Ant.
She passed away a few days before he went in so that was obviously very difficult for him," she explained to The Mirror. "She was like a second mum to Ant - he absolutely idolised her. "He called her the ‘boss of the family’," the proud wife and mum went on.
