A national snow-ice warning remains in place today for the entire country as Met Eireann warned of "wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow". Wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow with localised accumulations, especially on high ground, and icy stretches on roads and footpaths are forecast.
T he Status Yellow alert was issued yesterday and will stay in place until 11am this morning. T emperatures plummeted to a chilly -1C in Mullingar this morning and are expected to plunge to -4C tonight.
