Insurer tells gran she is 'at fault' after airport blaze destroys her car

A gran was told she was "at fault" by her insurer after an airport fire destroyed her car.
Cath Glaze has been left without a car following the blaze at Luton Airport carpark fire earlier this month. She can't pick up her grandkids or get to work and her insurance firm has judged her to be 'at fault' for the probable destruction of the vehicle - meaning she loses her no claims bonus.
The pay-out offered to her is £13,000 less than she paid for her car. She is one of a number of drivers who are fighting for insurance pay-outs or to salvage what remains of their motors who has spoken to the Mirror about their experience.
Among them includes Samantha Woodward, who has also been left massively out of pocket following the blaze on October 6. Samantha parked her vehicle in a disabled bay in the car park and flew to Portugal.
But she later received an email from the airport explainnig there had been a situation. While many motors were torched beyond recognition in the fire, Samantha has been able to see in videos of the smouldering remains the Yellow Nissan is seemingly completely intact.
She is one of a number of drivers who are fighting for insurance pay-outs or to salvage what remains of their motors who has spoken to the Mirror a week on from the blaze. Sarah Scott, who has also been impacted, believes her vehicle is wrecked after it was covered by rubble from the collapsing car park.
The motor was "priceless" to her, it having been passed down from her late father. Last week, the airport said it is "unlikely that any vehicles will be salvageable" following the blaze, despite many of the motors appearing to be fine.
Many customers with trapped vehicles have visited the airport to try and spot their cars.
