Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to Instagram to mark their daughter Princess Charlotte ’s seventh birthday. The youngster, who celebrated her big day on 2 May, looked adorable as she hugged her family’s dog Orla in the snaps - which were taken by avid photographer Kate.
But while sharing snaps of their children has become a birthday tradition in the Cambridge household, what else the young royals do on the occasion has remained a mystery. However, according to Us Weekly, doting parents William, 39, and Kate, 40, went all out to ensure that Charlotte’s day was fit for a princess.

Speaking to the publication, a source explained: “Kate and William have one important rule whenever it’s George, Charlotte and Louis’ birthday – they clear their schedules and avoid any work calls, unless there’s an emergency, to enable them to give their children their undivided attention.” And after recent celebrations have been rather stripped back due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19, the pair wanted their daughter to have an “extra special” time.
“The gift Charlotte wanted more than anything was a pony. She has been taking horse riding lessons for over a year and is obsessed,” the source added.
Given that horse riding is a huge shared interest among the royals, Kate and William did all they could to fulfill the little one’s wish. “William and Kate know that her passion for riding isn’t a [phase] and finally agreed to buy her one.” Not stopping there, the source reported that Charlotte also received a scooter and some trainers from her parents, as well as a selection of outdoor games from her brothers
