‘The Boys’ Showrunner on That Tragic Goodbye, Butcher’s ‘Bunny Foreshadowing,’ ‘Gen V’ Cameos and Poking Extra Fun at Marvel With Vought’s D23 Spoof

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers from Episode 5 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. While Homelander (Antony Starr) and the supes were away at Vought’s V52 fan event (not to be at all confused with Disney’s 23) on this week’s episode of “The Boys,” Butcher (Karl Urban), Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and company played with a group of crazy, vicious farm animals on a journey to find a supe-killing virus. Amid those two wild plot points was a graver storyline: Hughie (Jack Quaid) and his recently returned mother Daphne (Rosemarie Dewitt) saying goodbye to Hugh Sr. (Simon Pegg), when Hughie agrees to give his dad a pain-free death to put him out of his new misery.

Netflix’s ‘Cozy Grove 2’ Developers on What Changed for the Mobile-Only Sequel and How Streamer Will Measure Game’s Success

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Gamers can return to the “Cozy Grove” universe this week with the launch of sequel game, “Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit.” The new titled, which launched Tuesday, is a mobile-only game exclusive to Netflix, which acquired “Cozy Grove” developer Spry Fox as an in-house studio in October 2022, differentiating it from its predecessor, which was released on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch (arguably the most-chosen platform for the game’s players), Xbox, PlayStation and PC in 2021. But Spry Fox co-founder and studio director David Edery tells Variety that making the game for Netflix didn’t affect the title as much as fans of other platforms would first assume.

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer SPOILER ALERT: This story contains major spoilers from Episode 5 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video. Halfway through “The Boys” Season 4, things are looking grim for our untraditional heroes, as Frenchie (Tomer Capone) leaves The Boys to turn himself in for all the murders he committed prior to his time working with Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and now Annie/Starlight (Erin Moriarty). I was a big Tolkien reader when I was a kid, so I got quite excited by the idea of Lord Of The Rings.“But I very much felt the studio were making that decision, not the film director,” he added.
