Columbian actress and beauty queen Alejandra Villafañe has passed away aged 34, after battling cancer for several months. She announced she'd been diagnosed with cancer in May and had been undergoing treatment in the months that followed. On 21 October, Alejandra sadly died.
The influencer, whose Instagram account has 220,000 followers, was well-known in Columbia and has starred in hit TV shows such as La Nieta Elegida and Always a Witch. She was also a model and competed in beauty pageants. Alejandra was crowned Miss Earth Colombia in 2014 and was one of the top 16 semi-finalists at the Miss Earth 2014 competition.
Earlier this year, she revealed she was undergoing treatment after three malignant tumours were found on her breasts and ovaries. Alejandra underwent chemotherapy and surgery to try and remove the tumours. She had shared regular updates on her treatment on social media, where also shared snaps of family, friends and her fiancé Raul Ocampo.
On 12 October, Alejandra posted a tear-jerking video of Raul shaving her head, with the caption: "This video is a tribute to the family that is always there, to the friends who arrived and became family.
Thanks to a love that is lifelong." Following her passing, Raul, who is also an actor, took to social media to share a collection of black-and-white photos fo him and Alejandra together. "I want you to know that... Forever," he simply penned, as many of his followers flocked to support him and pay tribute to the late beauty queen.
