An independent girls' school in Salford has been told by inspectors it "requires improvement" and does not meet the required standard under regulations. Beis Malka Girls School was judged to be "good" in categories of assessment covering quality of education, behaviour and attitudes and early years provision.
But its overall rating as well as its personal development and leadership and management was said to "require improvement". The school on Bury New Road, Higher Broughton, has 309 pupils aged from three to 16, all of whom are girls.
Following the inspection on May 10 to 12, the Ofsted report by lead inspector Mavis Smith and inspector Maria McGarry said the school did not meet the requirements of the Schedule to the Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014.

Their report said that in a minority of subjects, leaders "do not have a clear understanding of the impact of the curriculum on pupils' learning over time". It said this prevents them from making any improvements to the curriculum that might be necessary to help pupils remember their learning more effectively.
It went on to say that "pupils do not learn about all of the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010 ". "This means that they are not fully prepared for life in modern Britain," it said.
"Leaders must ensure that they comply with their statutory duties by teaching pupils about the full range of protected characteristics." However, the report also said that the pupils like their school and "everyone is welcome there".
