Maths is a notoriously tricky subject, and every year students claim their GCSE exam is getting more and more difficult - and parents comparing the test with the questions they were asked at school.
However today's teens could possibly be right about things getting harder, after exam revision website Save My Exams challenged parents to complete a GCSE maths question.
In shocking results, not one parent answered correctly, proving how difficult some of the exam questions can be for GCSE students, and highlighting how some parents may need to brush up on their numbers, reports the Mirror.
The question didn't diminish parents' confidence, however. Of the 1,000 parents, 92% were unable to answer the question and 8% failed to get the correct answer.
Despite this, 75% of those parents still said they could pass their children's exams. However, 52% admitted they don't always understand the children's homework.
The question the parents failed shows a shape with all its measurements in centimetres, where the area of the shape is A cm² and respondents are asked to show how A = 2x² + 24x + 46.
Save My Exams' maths expert Lucy Kirkham was on hand to share the answer to the head-scratcher. She said: "Seeing questions with loads of Algebra can be scary but breaking them down into smaller chunks will help you work through them more easily.
"Our maths experts at Save My Exams create colour-coded model answers which break down each question into easier steps to carefully guide users to the correct answer.
"This question gives you the answer you're working towards, which can sometimes be off-putting as you wonder 'How am I ever going to get there?'. Don’t let it worry you, just try to start with the first step and you'll surprise yourself

Seeing is disbelieving when it comes to RRR, an Indian blockbuster set during the rule of the British Raj. Starring Telegu icons Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. (N.T.R.), it’s a lavish adventure based loosely — very loosely — on two legendary Indian freedom fighters of the early 20th century, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (N.T.R). Whether these two ever did drive motorcycles through exploding trains, fight with lions and tigers and bears, and challenge Delhi’s high society to a dance battle is a moot point, but the magic of S.S. Rajamouli’s delirious, incendiary epic — those three Rs stand for Rise, Roar, Revolt — is that it piles on the spectacle without ever losing its sense of fun.
