Madison Chock and Evan Bates made headlines over the past week with their exciting and dramatic performance during the Team Figure Skating Event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, and they’re about to take the ice again for the Rhythm Ice Dance competition today (February 12).
The two skaters, who are an item off the rink as well, have opened up in recent interviews about how their ice dance journey is a love story.
The couple actually went on their first date when they were just teenagers, but after just being fellow ice dancers, and then later partners, they gave a romantic relationship another go, which turned into a serious love story.
“Evan took me out to dinner for my 16th birthday and we went to Bahama Breeze,” Madi remembered of their actual first date. “It was really fun and he got me a hoodie, a zip-up hoodie from PINK, and it had turquoise letters. It was a very long time ago, but that was our first official date.”
She credits that first date and their friendship for being a “base was what sort of led to the romance.”
Madison and Evan opened up about what the key to their relationship is and Evan revealed that “humor is at the core of our partnership.”
You can see Evan and Madison in the Rhythm Dance competition, which starts at 6 am on NBC. It will also air later that same day.

Guy Lodge Film CriticThe title is a bit misleading in German writer-director Nicolette Krebitz’s offbeat romantic comedy “AEIOU — A Quick Alphabet of Love.” Despite its promise of deeper meaning attached to all the vowels in the alphabet, it’s ‘A’ on which it fixates: Said aloud and elongated, we are told, the first letter vocalizes a spectrum of feeling ranging from primal need to sharp pain to orgasmic release. Sure enough, all are present in this unpredictable tale of mutual misfit attraction between a juvenile delinquent and the middle-aged actor whose role in his life shifts from mentor to mother to lover.
Joey King stars as a teenager dealing with young love and loss in the new Paramount+ original film “The In Between.” But this is no ordinary romance. Yes, it’s a film that explores first love, but it also explores a second chance courtesy of a supernatural twist.Author Marc Klein based the idea on of the tragic death of an ex-girlfriend almost 15 years ago.
Owen Wilson stars oppositeJennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy Marry Me and he joined Ellen DeGeneres on her show The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday to talk about the film. Naturally, DeGeneres asked if he’s a romantic in real life.
Addie Morfoot Contributor“Hacks” is a dark comedy about two women in different stages of life desperately trying to hold on to their careers, but it’s also a character study that defies genre. The series stars Jean Smart as comedian Deborah Vance and Hannah Einbinder as Ava, a young, struggling comedy writer brought in to revamp Vance’s stale Vegas residency. The 10-episode first season of the HBO Max series, created by “Broad City” trio Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky, tackles isolation, loneliness and, according to Variety’s Daniel D’Addario, “successfully argues that there is a virtue all its own in showing up and gutting it out — in being a hack.”At the heart of the show is the relationship between Vance and Ava – a pair of strong-willed, hardheaded women from opposite worlds and generations who share a common passion: comedy.

Sweet Magnolias star Heather Headley remembers it like yesterday. “It” being the first time she met co-star and future on-screen love interest Dion Johnstone. “They had picked him up at the hotel and I was in the car,” she says.
Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorIt’s cool enough that U.S. Olympic skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates chose Daft Punk for their performance on Sunday — but even cooler was the music they chose: One would expect maybe one of their dancefloor hits, like “One More Time,” “Around the World” or their actual 2013 radio hit, “Get Lucky.”But instead, the pair performed to beautifully curated a medley of three songs from the duo’s 2013 (apparent) swan song album, “Random Access Melodies,” beginning with the album’s wild closing track “Contact” and its driving arpeggiated rhythms, then moving into “Within,” and concluding with the gorgeous orchestral finale of “Touch.” It paid off, too: Their winning score was 129.07, an international personal best for the duo, which added to the U.S.
Her Majesty the Queen marked her accession day on Sunday, beaming at the camera in a newly-released portrait. The Queen is celebrating an incredible 70 years on the throne - the first British monarch to reach this milestone - but there’s a deeper and more meaningful reason for her wide smile. Our Royal Family love a little symbolism as a mark of respect or remembrance on special occasions, and the Queen is no exception! Alongside nods to her late father King George VI and the Queen Mother, Her Majesty makes the sweetest tribute to Prince Philip with a vase of carefully chosen flowers. Here’s what those sweet snowdrops mean… Enduring love At the age of just 13, the then-Princess Elizabeth crossed paths with a dashing young naval student - Prince Philip.
Lorraine Kelly was left red-faced when she revealed she’d accidentally snubbed her ITV co-star Kate Garraway’s Life Stories debut. Kate hosted her first show after taking over from Piers Morgan on Thursday 3 February where she was joined by football legend John Barnes. However, during the link from Good Morning Britain to Lorraine, Lorraine, 62, made a big blunder as she revealed she hadn’t tuned in as she’d got her days mixed up.
Kate Garraway made her Life Stories hosting debut on Thursday night.
Kate Garraway’s Life Stories (ITV) was built in her cheery image. Though Garraway started as a reporter, the Good Morning Britain star has spent most of her career in lifestyle TV rather than in hard-nosed journalism. So it was perhaps inevitable that her Life Stories debut should be altogether fluffier and sweeter than was the case with Morgan, who has left ITV for a new morning gig with Rupert Murdoch’s forthcoming talkTV startup.
