Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorLil Nas X will be honored at the long-awaited 51 st annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala next month with the Hal David Starlight Award, which recognizes “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.”Nas, a Sony Music Publishing writer, joins previous honorees Drake, Taylor Swift, Halsey, Sara Bareilles, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Benny Blanco, John Mayer and others. The award, created in 2004, was named in honor of SHOF chairman emeritus Hal David for his support of young songwriters.The ceremony, the first since 2019, is slated for Thursday, June 16 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Rising star Lil Keed has tragically died at the age of 24, his brother has today confirmed.The Atlanta based young rapper, whose real name was Raqhid Render, leaves behind his young daughter Naychur and pregnant girlfriend Quana Bandz. No cause of death has yet been confirmed. Announcing the news on social media, his brother wrote: "Can’t believe I seened u die today bro I did all my cries I know what u want me to do and that’s go hard for Mama Daddy Our Brothers Naychur and Whiteboy." The star’s last album Trapped on Cleveland 3 had been produced in collaboration with Kylie Jenner ’s boyfriend Travis Scott, Young Thug and Chris Brown, reports the the Mirror .

Lil Keed has died, according to reports in Complex and XXL and an Instagram statement by Lil Gotit, Keed's brother. No cause of death was revealed in the 24-year-old Atlanta rapper's passing.
