I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’s Helen Flanagan has already been accused of “faking her fears” by fans of the all-star version of the reality TV series.
But now a body language expert has confirmed what they’ve been thinking, by suggesting she’s being clever with her emotions and could even go on to win the South Africa-based show. On Monday’s launch episode, Helen faced her first challenge along with retired Olympian Fatima Whitbread and former International cricketer Phil Tufnell, as they jumped between giant balls suspended high in the air, trying desperately to win stars for food.
Helen, best known for her portrayal of Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, said she “felt sick” as she watched Fatima in the challenge, before taking it on herself. Viewers were quick to accuse her of being “dramatic”, with one commenting: “This series is just going to be Helen sh***ing herself and not doing the tasks.” The 32 year old actress was swift to hit back at the criticism – despite admitting to hating heights – with body language expert Darren Staunton offering a possible reason for her behaviour.
“Helen comes over like she’s struggling, but I believe that’s her way of diverting people’s attention,” he revealed, speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo. He continued: “I think she is still playing the damsel in distress card, but she definitely has some hidden depths to her.” In fact he believes Helen, who gave OK!an exclusive tour of her home, will surprise everyone over the coming days in a bid to become the first-ever I'm A Celebrity Legend: “I think we will see the emergence of who Helen truly is – a strong woman who could go all the way to the end.” The expert also lifted the lid further on how the campmates are coping in
