Police have launched a search for an HGV driver who ran down a man in Greenock and didn't stop to help.
Cops were called to Inverkip Road in the Inverclyde town at around 6.35pm on Friday November 4 after the 38-year-old male casualty was struck, sustaining a serious leg injury. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz articulated lorry kept driving east in the direction of Port Glasgow.
The man was taken to the nearby Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment. The road was closed for some time as detectives mounted an investigation into the hit and run, but is understood to have reopened sometime around 9pm.
In the meantime, officers have made an appeal for information and dashcam footage following the "serious" incident in the hope that they can trace the lorry and its driver.
Investigators are also probing CCTV footage from the trunk road network in a bid to identify the vehicle.
Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us.
"We are conducting inquiries to locate the driver of the lorry, who failed to stop.
"I would ask any motorists with dash cams who were in and around that area to check the footage as it may have captured images of the lorry which could assist in our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3138 of 4 November, 2022.
