Huge outdoor beach and doll extravaganza coming to Stockport town centre this weekend

The weather right now might not be inspiring you to pack a picnic and head to the seaside but Stockport's Merseyway is getting the summer off to a good start - with its own beach.
The shopping centre in Stockport town centre will be bringing back its popular 'Merseybay' outdoor beach with buckets, spades and deckchairs for families to enjoy during the school holidays. The free-to-attend beach is back from Saturday, July 29 until Sunday, September 3 and will also encompass fun rides plus food and drink stalls.
'Merseybay' will also be hosting Activity Wednesdays, where children of all ages can enjoy a themed event from 12pm to 3pm. And to mark the official launch of Stockport's own beach, the shopping centre has teamed up with Redrock to host a huge doll extravaganza this Saturday.

Celebrating the opening of the brand-new Barbie movie in cinemas, the Pink Beach Takeover will include an array of doll-themed activities and installations across the town centre. This Saturday, from 11am, the town centre be decorated with all things pink and fun inflatables, while visitors will be able to come along dressed as their favourite dolls whilst enjoying free workshops, crafts and family games.
Over at Merseyway, children will be able to make clothing for their favourite dolls whilst enjoying hair extension and glitter face tattoo makeovers. Even if the weather leaves a lot to be desired, a live DJ will be getting everyone in the party spirit, while families can follow a trail around the centre to be in with a chance of winning a bundle of the trail-featured dolls.
