Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze on a Fife country road.
In scenes shared widely across social media the fire is thought to have taken hold inside a building beside the B961 - known as the Dales Road by Fifers - between Inverkeithing and Crossgates, near Cowdenbeath.
Locals reported hearing explosions more than a mile from the site as the inferno raged.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has sent half a dozen appliances to tackle the fire, which is understood to have started in a garage.
Dramatic pictures shared on the Facebook page Fife Jammer Locations show thick plumes of smoke erupting from the scene and pouring across the sky.
Local reports, since confirmed by the Record, suggest that a garage next to a residential building has caught fire.
One local said: "It's a garage fire - everyone looked to be out and safe.
"We phoned the fire brigade and they were already aware on en route so we left to keep the road clear."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to attend a fire on the B981 at 10.07pm.
"We have sent six appliances to the scene and our response is ongoing."
