Despite the presence of a troika of web slingers past and present and a bonanza box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home was (basically) nowhere to be found amidst today’s Oscar nominations unveiling.

West Side Story, a role that won Rita Moreno an Oscar for the 1961 adaptation, has no shortage of scene-stealing Oscar moments, many of which show off her incredible talent as a singer and dancer as well. Caitríona Balfe’s role as the protective mother in Belfast looks close to a lock as well. She was the only actor from her film nominated at the SAG awards, making the cut even as Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds were brutally snubbed.

Of all the surprises in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” perhaps the most underappreciated one is bringing back Charlie Cox to play Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in a quick scene towards the beginning of the film. While Cox, who famously starred as that character in Netflix’s “Daredevil” series, doesn’t suit up, he does have a memorable appearance, and it’s nice to see Marvel Studios bring back the fan-favorite actor and introduce him to the film audience.
