Ronaldo has only started one game for United this season, which came during the sobering 4-0 defeat to Brentford last month. Since that loss, the Reds have won four successive Premier League games, yet the 37-year-old has not started in any of them.
Ten Hag has utilised Ronaldo off the bench since the defeat in West London and has only played a total of 80 minutes across the games against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal. The 32 minutes that the Portuguese international played against the Gunners was the longest of those stints.

Ronaldo looks set to return to the starting line-up on Thursday night when the Reds take on their Spanish opposition, as Ten Hag will no doubt look to introduce some rotation to his side. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is yet to score for United this season, but that could all be about to change.
The former Real Madrid man has come up against Real Sociedad nine times in his career, and has a 100 per cent win record against them. Even more impressively, Ronaldo has scored a staggering 15 goals and provided four assists in the nine matches against them - netting hat-tricks on two occasions.
The 37-year-old will be chomping at the bit to play against the La Liga side as he looks to score his first goal for United this season. Sociedad could provide the perfect springboard to remind Ten Hag why he deserves a place in the starting XI.
