Owen Warner's mum Polly has opened up about her battle with the congenital heart condition Ventricular Tachycardia, which has left her needing a heart transplant. Polly, 57, was first diagnosed with the condition at just 18 months old, after she was discovered to have a leaking mitral valve and narrowing of the aorta. She has since been suffering problems her entire life, and underwent invasive heart surgery for the first time at the young age of 11.
And at the age of 34, when her sons were all under the age of five, Polly was hospitalised for heart failure, after she suffered a cough which quickly worsened. Recalling this terrifying time, the mum-of-three said: "When I was just 34 years old with my hands full with three young boys, I developed a cough and became very breathless. "Eventually my symptoms became so intense that I was finally diagnosed with heart failure.
Fortunately, the medications started working and I began improving. I was young and had three boys - a lot to fight for." Now at 54, Polly has been told she needs to undergo a heart transplant in the next two years, after previously getting an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) to manage her heart rhythm 14 years ago. Mum has helped us all through so much and been so strong for us all, now it’s our turn to do the same for her." Owen and his two look-alike brothers are all
