Holly Willoughby is said to have proved victorious following a legal battle with her former agents, YMU Group. The talent management company reportedly wanted 15% of Holly’s future deals, sparking the Dancing On Ice presenter, 41, to hire high-end lawyers to represent her early last year. The case focused on something known as a “sunset clause”, where agents collect commission from a celebrity who has left them.
Holly left the agency in 2020, and has since set up her own agency named Roxy Management. While Holly could have been forced to pay out an eye-watering seven-figure sum to the agency if she lost, she was said to be refusing to go down without a fight. Now, 18 months on, the mum-of-three is said to have won the legal battle and will receive £1 million.
An insider told The Sun: “This has paid off handsomely for Holly and she’s now free to earn millions of pounds for years to come and become the most powerful woman in British TV. “She is now very much her own boss and agent.” OK! have contacted Holly’s representatives and YMU Group for comment. At the time of the beginning of the legal battle, a source said it was “sad” that Holly’s relationship with YMU Group came to such a sour end.
“This is a sad finale to what was once a hugely successful partnership,” they said. “But YMU seem unhappy she’s set up on her own and feel entitled to maximise a sunset provision to claim commission on the renewal of contracts. “This means, if she signed a new three-year deal with ITV worth £10million, say, they’d be entitled to around £1.5million of it.
