Footage of Gavin Plumb's arrest has been shown in court as his trial continues. He is accused of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby, all of which he denies. Plumb, 37, was arrested at his flat in Harlow, Essex on 4 October 2023.
Bodycam footage shows him shirtless as officers forced open his front door and entered his home. In the footage, played to jurors in court on 28 June, the defendant exclaimed to officers “what are you talking about” and asked “please explain to me what the hell is going on”. He was informed he was under arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap.
Plumb asked "who?" and was told it was Holly Willoughby. He then asked "OK, where's that from?" and an officer said "that will be explained to you in custody". The trial was earlier told that Plumb had unwittingly engaged in an online chat with a US undercover police officer, who he thought was a man called David Nelson.
In the conversation with the undercover officer, the defendant told of his plans to "put her (Ms Willoughby) into a lake at night" when he had finished raping her. The defendant denies soliciting murder, incitement to rape and incitement to kidnap. Earlier in Friday's hearing, he said online chats about the alleged plot are “massively regrettable” and denied asking the undercover officer for "help" in carrying out the alleged plot, reports The Mirror.
