Holidaymaker 'Tasered and dragged off' Jet2 flight from Scots airport over ‘disobedience’

A holidaymaker was allegedly Tasered and dragged off a Jet2 flight from Edinburgh after claims of "unruly behaviour" forced the plane to divert. The 26-year-old man was filmed being marched across the runway by security personnel after being removed from the Tenerife-bound plane.
The jet made an unscheduled stop on Porto Santo Island in Madeira on Monday - over 300 miles away from its destination, according to the Scottish Daily Express. And reports suggest other passengers were delayed for 27 hours as a result of the disturbance, which also saw a woman removed from the aircraft.
Video footage taken at the airport and shared online by Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias showed two passengers - a man and a woman - being taken off the plane by police.
The Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed that a foreign national had been arrested "for the crime of disobeying the legitimate order of the Commander of an aircraft".
In a statement, the PSP said the plane was forced to divert to Porto Santo "after reporting a situation of a disorderly passenger, whose behaviour raised immediate concerns among the crew".
PSP also revealed that officers were forced to "use an electric weapon of low lethal potential" to remove the passengers from the plane and "guarantee the safety of the other passengers and crew" after he allegedly refused to cooperate with them and follow their instructions.
"The citizen ended up being detained by the police present there for the crime of disobedience, following the normal procedural steps, and the flight continued to its destination," PSP said.
