Manori Ravindran International EditorA Vice Studios documentary series on the 2014 disappearance of Malaysian flight MH370 has been sold to History Channel in the U.S. and a raft of broadcasters in Europe.Vice Distribution, the global distribution and licensing arm of Vice Media Group, pre-sold the three-part series, entitled “MH370: The Lost Flight,” into A+E Networks’ History, TV2 in Denmark and Viaplay across its European territories (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Poland and the pan-Baltics).
The series was launched to international buyers at this week’s MipTV market in Cannes.“MH370: The Lost Flight” was originally produced for Paramount Plus in the U.K. as part of the platform’s debut programming launch as well as SBS Australia.
The series tells the definitive story of the Malaysian Airlines flight’s disappearance through the eyes of those closest to the tragedy: the victims’ families. With candid testimony from those most impacted, across four continents, and filmed over 12 months, Vice Studios will chart the twists and turns of the devastating tragedy and unveil new evidence that challenges what we thought we knew.The doc series comes as the global aviation industry grapples with the mysterious crash of a China Eastern Airlines flight in southern China on March 21 that killed all 132 on board.

Christopher Vourlias CAA Media Finance is representing worldwide distribution rights to a new documentary feature from the producers of “The Lost Leonardo,” Variety can reveal.The untitled project follows a Swiss art dealer and Russian oligarch caught in a web of secrets, lies and mad money, telling the inside story of an international, billion-dollar game where power is the ultimate currency. The film is produced by Elk Film (Denmark) and Pumpernickel Films (France) and directed by Andreas Dalsgaard, whose previous credits include “The Lost Leonardo” and “The War Show.”The pulled-from-the-headlines documentary follows the scandal that erupted in 2015 with the arrest of the Swiss businessman and free port magnate Yves Bouvier, “a very discreet guy who was suddenly arrested in Monaco, accused of swindling a billion dollars from the Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev…[through] the purchase of 38 masterworks,” according to Dalsgaard.

The band members, on the brink of 40, juggle their artistic dreams, the meaning of friendship and the pressures of motherhood.Örnólfsdóttir says she focuses “on the beauty and possibilities that rejection brings” in the film.
Stockholm-based Pophouse Entertainment has announced a deal with Swedish House Mafia which sees the company acquire a load of music rights and also form a new joint venture to manage the dance music group’s brand worldwide.Pophouse was launched in 2014 by Björn Ulvaeus of Abba fame and Conni Jonsson, founder of private equity outfit EQT, in order to set up the Abba Museum and accompanying Pop House Hotel in the Swedish capital. Since then it has expanded into other venue, event and media ventures, and is also a key backer of the Abba Voyage show that is due to launch in London in May.It also has an investments wing which says it is “building the world’s most vibrant catalogue of entertainment intellectual property rights”, which brings us back to the Swedish House Mafia deal.
