Andrew's wife Emma said: "Andrew died as a result of a tragic accident doing what he loved on the hills.
"We cannot put into words our gratitude to Killin Mountain Rescue Team. The bravery, tenacity and selflessness shown by the volunteers to tirelessly bring Andrew home was exceptional."
Launching the fundraiser in his memory, the family added: "Andrew absolutely adored hill-walking, as we all know, and was never happier than when on a wild adventure or devouring some well-deserved scran after!
"Emma and Andrew's family are so hugely grateful to the Killin Mountain Rescue Team for everything they did for Andrew. It has been an incredibly tough time for everyone who knew Andrew but also for the brave and selfless volunteers who worked tirelessly to get Andrew home.
"Emma, Helen and Jenni would like to raise as much as possible to ensure the Killin Mountain Rescue Team not only know how much we all appreciate every individual who gives their time, efforts and love to do what they do, but also hopefully provide them with the resources to ensure they can continue to do so safely while knowing how valued they are."
