Helen Hoehne has been re-elected to another term as president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association by an overwhelming margin, the company announced on Friday.“I am humbled and truly grateful to be re-elected,” Hoehne said in a statement. “This is a vote of confidence in the changes we have made and the course we have charted in moving the HFPA forward with its reforms towards greater diversity, integrity, and transparency.
I am optimistic about our future and the future of the Golden Globes, as well as the impact we hope to have in using this platform to continue our philanthropic efforts.”Born in Hamburg, Germany, Hoehne has been a HFPA member since 2004, serving on the board of directors from 2012-19 and elected vice president in 2020. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC Irvine in 1998 and received her master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University in 2000.
She went on to study journalism at UCLA, graduating in 2002.Hoehne began her journalistic career as a correspondent for Bauer Media Group, writing for various publications in Germany including national magazines such as Instyle and Empire, as well as Swiss Airlines magazine. Currently, she is a contributor to TV Movie magazine as their U.S.

K.J. Yossman Ann-Helén Laestadius’ novel “Stolen” is getting a Netflix adaptation. Elle Márjá Eira (“The Sámi Have Rights”) is set to direct the feature based on a screenplay by Peter Birro (“Monica Z”). Laestadius will exec produce. “Stolen” will be Eira’s feature film debut. The film, about a young indigenous woman’s struggle in the face of xenophobia, climate change and the patriarchy, will go into production in Sápmi next year and is set to premiere in 2024. “I am over the moon!” said Laestadius. “For me as an author it is of course a dream to see my book adapted into a film and reach a whole new audience across the world. And I’m incredibly happy that Netflix – with their reach – chooses to highlight a Sami story in a big way.”

The pair ran unopposed, and will succeed Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher, who have led the organization since 2018. Allain and De Line have both recently served on the PGA national board. Allain will become the first woman of color to serve as president of the guild. She has produced films including “Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan,” “Beyond the Lights” and “Dear White People.” In 2020, she co-produced the Academy Awards and received the PGA/UCLA Vision Award for her work championing diverse filmmakers. She is also a former director of the L.A. Film Festival.
