Heinz is set to launch a unique twist on its popular tomato ketchup for pasta lovers next month - but it won't be around for long.
The food brand, which has become known for its unique red sauce combos, has unveiled its limited edition Heinz Tomato Ketchup Pasta Sauce that will be available in Tesco stores and online from Wednesday, October 4 - and it is sure to be another divisive option.
Priced at £2.25 for a 350g jar, this controversial pasta sauce is ideal for those who love the tomato ketchup and pasta combo, although they don't have long to try it, as it will only be around for just four weeks.
Each pasta sauce has been made in Italy with sun-ripened tomatoes, 100% natural ingredients and no added sugar. Not to mention that each jar provides one of your five a day.
The limited edition sauce is sure to be divisive amongst fans, after Heinz's research has revealed that only a quarter of Brits (24 per cent) believe it’s right to put ketchup on pasta, while over half (59%) say they think it’s unacceptable.
It's not the first time Heinz has launched an interesting twist using its popular red sauce, as it has previously launched the Tomato Ketchup Filled Hash Browns and Baked Beanz Filled Hash Browns.
Caio Fontenele, Heinz New Ventures Director, said of the launch: "Never say never! Whether ketchup was originally intended to go on pasta or not, we couldn’t help but listen to the love our fans share on social media for the combination. So, we’ve brought together our Heinz Pasta Sauce and Heinz Tomato Ketchup to give you the pasta sauce we’ve all been dreaming of. While some might say it’s ridiculously wrong, we think it’s simply, ridiculously good.
"For the ones who said they would be keen to use the sauce in their home
