Check out Kim Gordon’s disorientating new single ‘ECRP’

Kim Gordon has dropped a discordant new single, ‘ECRP’, to coincide with a run of dates starting tonight (June 25).Following on from her trap-inspired album ‘The Collective’ earlier this year, Gordon’s new one-off single is a noisy, experimental affair that speaks of “rumours of free speech” and “ashes on the nightstand”.The video, meanwhile, was directed by Gordon’s daughter Coco Gordon Moore and features various shots of New York street scenes.Check out ‘ECRP’ below.Gordon plays London’s Koko tonight, kicking off a European tour, and will head to Birmingham for a gig at the O2 Institute2. The tour also includes various festival appearances at the likes of Glastonbury, Open’er and Roskilde. In a four-star review of ‘The Collective’, NME wrote: “Here the 70-year-old balances her less than commercial sensibilities with crunchily on-trend production and relatable lyrics about rotten capitalism and fragile masculinity – if these sound like themes she explored during Sonic Youth’s ‘90s heyday, it only goes to show how little has changed.”“It’s notable, though, how contemporary her distorted art-punk sounds, given the ongoing grunge resurgence and the fact that Olivia Rodrigo’s taking The Breeders on tour this year.

Love Island fans warned - show will not air at 9pm tonight

Love Island will not air at 9pm tonight in an extremely rare move - with viewers warned not to tune in at the usual time. The popular show was shunted out of the slot it has occupied on ITV2 for nearly a decade, with music comedy Pitch Perfect 3 showing in its place.Tonight's action from the villa will air at the later time of 10pm instead and end at 11.05pm.The culprit, as so often in TV schedule shake-ups is football, with England vs Slovenia's Euro 2024 game airing over on ITV1 from 6.45pm with kick-off live from Germany at 8pm.The move means that fans of both tournament football and Love Island will be able to watch both - and makes sure the dating show doesn't suffer a dip in ratings from viewers deciding to watch the Group C match instead. Other TV big-hitters affected tonight include Emmerdale, which will not air at all on Tuesday, and The One Show, which is on for just 20 minutes on BBC Two.

Raye shares “deeply personal” new single ‘Genesis’: “It is a prayer, a plea and a cry for help”

Raye has shared an expansive and “deeply personal” new single, ‘Genesis’ – you can listen to it below. The multi-BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter previewed the track live at a special pop-up exhibition in New York City earlier this week, saying she was “so proud” of how it had turned out.Today (June 7) Raye released the studio version of the ambitious, seven-minute song – which marks her first material since her critically acclaimed, Mercury Prize-nominated debut album ‘My 21st Century Blues’ (2023).“There is a Nina Simone quote, ‘It is an artist’s duty to reflect the times’. This quote is everything to me and I believe the best way I can try to do this is through my art and my music,” she said in a statement.“There is so much darkness and pain in this world we live in, and I wanted to create something both as deeply personal and as raw as I could find myself to be about my own mind and the world I see around me.”Raye continued: “The song is a seven-minute piece that I have crafted and scrutinised over the last year and a half, experimenting with different genres and sonic expressions, beneath all the layers and the lyrics, the underlying message is ‘Let There Be Light’.“It is a prayer and a plea and a cry for help, and I really hope this song will be able to bring some hope, the way this music does for me, to those who need it most.”In the gospel-tinged first part, Raye sings about how she’s “been sober for some months“.

Dylan has dropped a high-energy new single called ‘Perfect Revenge’. Check it out below.Released today (June 6), the dates come on the heels of the 24-year-old’s recent headline tour across the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and North America. With ‘Perfect Revenge’, the singer brings out her knack for delivering sharp-tongued lyrics in full force – and the lyrics explore the feeling of obsession and wanting something you can’t have.It was written alongside her regular collaborators Mati Schwarz and Vera Carlbom in Los Angeles, and came together while she was on tour across the country with Ed Sheeran.“You, you’re so sweet/ You’re making me seem bitter/ Yeah you, pull me in to leave me like a sinner,” Dylan sings in the opening lines, and the track comes alongside a music video which sees her look straight into the camera.Describing the track, Dylan said: “I understand that there is power in being the bigger person, and that ‘the best revenge is to have enough self-worth to not seek it’…but sometimes that is not always the answer.“My perfect revenge is releasing a song called ‘Perfect Revenge’.
