Prince Harry 's private jet "was still in the air" as news of the Queen 's death was announced to the nation at 6.30pm on Thursday, 8 September. The monarch's grandson was amongst family members including Prince Charles and Prince William who scrambled to be by her side in Balmoral yesterday after receiving a phone call that she had just hours to live.
Prince Harry, 37, arrived at Balmoral at 7.52pm, having landed in Scotland at 7pm - hours after other members of the royal family touched down. Flight data shows he was still in the air during.
the sombre announcement about his beloved grandmother. It was originally thought that Harry would head to Balmoral with his wife Meghan Markle, 40, in tow after a spokesperson for the couple had confirmed that they would be travelling to "Scotland", however it was later revealed that Harry would travel there alone.
He could be seen arriving to the estate in the back of a car, dressed in a mourning suit, as he put his hand to his head and looked understandably devastated at the passing of the monarch and his grandmother, to whom he was known to be very close. Harry and Meghan shared a tribute to the Queen on their website, Archewell, which was blacked out in memory of Her Majesty.
