Lady Gaga will be handing over control of her social media accounts to a number of organisations in order to help amplify marginalised voices.The singer, who released her sixth studio album Chromatica last week, took to Instagram on Thursday to announce the initiative, explaining she plans to use her platform to make a positive change in the world.

With Black Music Month in full effect this year, African American artists are looking for ways to stay active, motivated, and committed on the fight for social change within their communities in light of the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Adbery and more. Spurred by the callous disregard for Black lives, artists are hoping to use their platforms as microphones to invoke reform in both the short and long term.

Whenever tragedy strikes, celebrities and entertainers have their own way of helping out during tough times. E! Online reported that the iconic rapper, Kanye West, joined the ranks of other performing artists who donated to various pro-black organizations.

It would have seemed impossible a few weeks ago for any breaking news topic to supersede the global pandemic that has killed more than 100,000 Americans, but the nationwide protests against racist police violence in the wake of George Floyd’s death has done it. And on Tuesday, Seth Meyers focused his newest “A Closer Look” segment on Donald Trump’s threat to send American military forces against American citizens.

The Louisville community is mourning after a local business owner was shot and killed by law enforcement as he ran a food stand during protests early Monday. David McAtee, known as «the BBQ Man,» used to feed police officers for free, CBS affiliate WKLY-TV reports.
