Dangerous snow drifts in Aberdeenshire left a gritter needing to be pulled out by a farmer's tractor after it tried to rescue a car which had also been stuck.
Local Kerry Sutherland said she was "saved" by workers from Middleton Farm after she became trapped in a snow drift on a back road from Parkhill to Newmacher to the north of Aberdeen. A council gritter came along and tried to help get Kerry out on Wednesday evening but also became stuck in the process.
Thanks to the farmers who came along with a tractor, they were both pulled out and saved from the scary ordeal. The driver of the gritter said he had "never" been stuck before in his 10 years of working on the machines.
Kerry posted on social media to praise her rescuers. She said: "I was lucky enough to be rescued by the Middleton Farm guys tonight, right next to this Gritter/Snow Plough. Ian Thomson, Kyle, Stevie & Co literally saved me and my car by literally pulling the car out!!! Never been so petrified……SOOOO GRATEFUL.
"The driver of the gritter was trying to help me outa huge snow drift and got himself stuck down a ditch! His name is Ian Ferris, I made sure I asked him… he said he’d been doing this for 10 years with the council and had never been stuck before."
Many were left shocked by the news that a gritter needed to be rescued saying it was the worst snow Aberdeenshire at "seen in years".
One person said: "Never expected to see a gritter needing help. Well done to those who helped."
Another said: "Omg even gritters getting stuck in snow on our northeast roads."
