A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer has admitted sexually assaulting a young girl while on duty. PC Dean Dempster, who served with GMP in the Oldham division, today (Wednesday, February 28) pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a child under 13 last year.
The particulars of the offence state it involved 'intentionally touching a six-year-old girl and the touching was sexual.'
The 34-year-old, of Langford Road, West Didsbury, is a former Army reservist who joined the force in 2021 after serving as a special constable and ambulance service paramedic. He was arrested on New Year's Eve.

Dempster, who appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from HMP Forest Bank, pleaded not guilty to misconduct in a public office involving the sexual assault on the child.
At the request of Vanessa Thomson, prosecuting, who explained that “the behaviour is encapsulated in count one,” Judge Stuart Driver KC ordered the misconduct offence to lie on the file. Miss Thompson told the court: “There are ongoing investigations into other matters” and asked for the case to be adjourned.
Defence barrister Richard Orme said pre-sentence and psychological reports will be prepared before sentence. Judge Driver KC told Dempster: “You have pleaded guilty to a serious criminal offence. It is inevitable you will receive a substantial custodial sentence.”
He further remanded him in custody until April 26 when the case will be mentioned and told him he is now subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act.
A spokesman for GMP said Dempster has been suspended from duty and misconduct proceedings will resume upon the conclusion of criminal
