Greater Manchester is set for a stormy Bank Holiday weekend as the clouds roll in - which could have an impact on Manchester City's plans for a bus parade on Sunday to celebrate its fourth successive Premier League title.
The Met Office forecasts that today (May 25) will remain largely dry across the north west, with some sunshine and temperatures reaching 19C. But tonight will see a marked change, as the weather will turn cloudier through this evening with some patchy outbreaks of rain arriving from the southeast, becoming heavy at times overnight.
The forecaster predicts a cloudy start to Sunday with patchy outbreaks of rain through the morning around the north west region. There will be some brighter skies developing in the south with a few heavy showers breaking out by the afternoon, and a maximum temperature of 18C.
In Greater Manchester, heavy rain will start on Sunday morning and thunder and lightning storms will roll in at around noon, which could prove a challenge for the thousands taking on the Great Manchester Run on Sunday morning. The deluge looks set to continue throughout the afternoon - but might just clear up in time for the parade in the early evening.

As for the bank holiday Monday, the Met Office expects sunshine and showers, perhaps merging into longer spells of rain on Monday around the north west. West and south Greater Manchester will see heavy rain Monday morning.
It will be followed by a strengthening breeze and outbreaks of rain on Tuesday and into Wednesday. Temperatures will be around average.
