The 1975‘s lawyers have been working on resolving the band’s ongoing lawsuit with a Malaysian festival organiser.Future Sound Asia (FSA), the organiser of Kuala Lumpur’s Good Vibes Festival (GVF), has demanded the band pay RM12.3million (£2,099,154) in damages after the band’s frontman Matty Healy‘s “indecent behaviour” caused the cancellation of the festival last month.Lawyers for FSA previously confirmed that they issued a seven-day Letter of Claim before legal proceedings in English courts would begin.In a statement issued to the PA news agency on Wednesday (August 16), David Matthew, legal counsel for FSA, said the resolution process was “now in progress”.“We are able to confirm that our lawyers have received communication from the band’s solicitors and we are continuing to pursue the matter, as per our earlier statement,” said Matthew.He continued: “The dispute resolution process is now in progress and on advice of legal counsel, we have no further comment at present.”Matthew previously said that a large component of FSA’s Letter of Claim is attributed towards frontman Matty Healy’s breach of contract.“Healy’s representative categorically provided a pre-show written assurance that he and The 1975’s live performance ‘shall adhere to all local guidelines and regulations’ during their set in Malaysia. Despite this, the assurance was ignored, and the band’s actions also clearly contravened the contract with FSA, which led to the cancellation of the festival and caused significant losses to FSA,” said Matthew to the Malay Mail.The 1975 were banned from Malaysia mid-performance at Day 1 of Good Vibes Festival on July 21.

The main driver and heroic gamer of Sony’s “Gran Turismo” is Jann Mardenborough, who did indeed level up “From Gamer to Racer,” as the movie’s poster tagline teases. But in this overly polished retelling of this true story, the biggest hero is actually a Nissan executive here named Danny Moore (played by Orlando Bloom), who wanted to prove that “Gran Turismo” is such a great product that it’s like the real thing.

Working in an oft-traversed realm, Gran Turismo director Neill Blomkamp and writers Jason Hall and Zach Baylin have delivered a racing car drama that’s rather different from the others. With plenty of potent auto action, some well-defined characters and welcome fresh components, this is an engaging look at people who overcome their own doubts and perceived shortcomings to help pull off something genuinely unusual. It’s a lively, spunky piece of work with no pretenses and all the more welcome for that. Originally dated for August 11, Sony pivoted amid the actors strike, and is sneak previewing the next two weekends, with the official wide opening on August 25.

Devo‘s Mark Mothersbaugh has paid tribute to the late Paul Reubens, saying that creating the music for Pee-wee’s Playhouse and the 2016 movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday “changed the trajectory of his career”.Reubens died on July 30 at the age of 70 after privately suffering from cancer.“He always had a good personality and a good heart,” Mothersbaugh told Yahoo Music. “It’s just shocking and sad that he’s gone.” He admitted that he had no idea that Reubens had been diagnosed with cancer, adding, “We’d even been talking about working on an animated version of Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”Mothersbaugh and Reubens met at the comedy improv theatre the Groundlings when Mothersbaugh was dating founding member Laraine Newman (who was also part of the original Saturday Night Live cast).
