Grammys 2020: Nominations are rigged? Recording Academy clarifies sacked CEO's claims

It's time to finish up your Oscars ballots and dust off your awards season bingo cards, because the most glamorous night in movies is almost here. The 92nd Academy Awards broadcast is this weekend, which means it's time for film buffs to have some fun as we dissect the films, stars, and behind-the-scenes talent nominated to compete for this year's trophies.

It’s been one week since the Grammy Awards, and for many people it’s taken a week even to begin to process all the things that happened in the deranged ten days leading up to the show, let alone try to figure out where things currently stand.

On Sunday, the biggest of the biggest stars from the music industry descended to attend the popular Grammys. The 71st edition of the award show was attended by many celebs to celebrate the year's achievements in music.

Billie Eilish took home the most Grammy wins last night of any other performer this year, with five in all.

Billie Eilish was on an outstanding winning streak at ! The first-time Grammy nominee secured five awards in total, including record of the year, song of the year, best new artist and best pop vocal album. That’s not all. The 18-year-old singer also ended up winning best album of the year award for her album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, and making the award even more special, the singer made history with her win and became the youngest album of the year winner in Grammy history.

Demi Lovato got emotional during the performance of her new song, “Anyone,” at the 2020 Grammys, marking her first performance since her 2018 overdose.

BTS’s appearance on the red carpet of 2020 Grammy Awards was everything the fans had been waiting for. The Korean boy band absolutely slayed the red carpet in coordinated looks and the fans are going gaga.

“Tonight is for Kobe!” shouted Lizzo, opening the 2020 Grammy Awards Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The ceremony happened on the same day as Lakers legend Kobe Bryant shockingly died in a helicopter crash that also took the lives of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.

Tonight at the 2020 Grammy Awards, the Chemical Brothers took home the award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Their 2019 LP No Geography beat out projects from Apparat (LP5), (Flume Hi This Is Flume), RÜFÜS DU SOL (SOLACE), and Tycho (Weather).

Diddy was recognized with the 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award during the Recording Academy and Clive Davis’ annual Pre-GRAMMY Gala on Saturday. 

Sean “Diddy” Combs slammed the Recording Academy before a star-studded crowd at the annual Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday night, saying that hip-hop and black music have “never been respected by the Grammys,” ironically as he accepted his award as the 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoree at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

Deborah Dugan, 61, the former CEO of The Recording Academy, which presents the Grammy Awards, got a lot of attention this week when she spoke out against the organization and her predecessor, Neil Portnow, after she was put on leave from her job due to claims she bullied an assistant who worked for her. The successful businesswoman filed a 44 page complaint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Jan.

The stage will soon be set and stars will descend down to the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 26 January. Over the years, music aficionados, irrespective of the genre, have keenly looked forward to the big night and get a glimpse of the who's who from the music industry. From pop and rock to country and gospel, the Garmmys recognises all. As the big night approaches, let's take a look at the top five moments from last year.
