Grammys 2020: Lizzo Wins Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”

The In Memoriam segment of the 92nd Oscars on Sunday (Feb. 9) paid tribute to Oscar-winner Kobe Bryant and multiple nominee Kirk Douglas, but social media was quick to point out the notable names that did not make the montage.

Tonight at the 2020 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish won Record of the Year for her single “bad guy.” She picked up the win over songs by Bon Iver (“Hey, Ma”), Ariana Grande (“7 rings”), Lil Nas X (“Old Town Road (Remix)”), Swae Lee and Post Malone (“Sunflower”), Lizzo (“Truth Hurts”), Khalid (“Talk”), and H.E.R. (“Hard Place”). She’s the youngest artist to ever win Record of the Year. When accepting the award, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas simply said, “thank you.”

Billie Eilish, a goth-leaning artist whose innovative pop-rock-trap sound has won her legions of fans, beat out four industry heavyweights Sunday to take home the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Grammys 2020 had several memorable moments that music lovers will cherish for a while, to say the least. From Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato's powerful performances to Camila Cabello's moving performance on First Man that she dedicated to her father and Billie Eilish's clean sweep of the big awards, there were some moments that have left social media talking.

The Grammys 2020 created a whole lot of noise. While it was largely a huge shoutout for artists who ruled the night, a section of fans were left hugely disappointed with many other artists not winning even a single award. 18-year-old artist Billie Eilish sweeped the Grammys this year as she won five big awards. Winning Record of the year and album of the year, Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey's fans were left super disappointed with the Grammys snub. 

Billie Eilish was on an outstanding winning streak at ! The first-time Grammy nominee secured five awards in total, including record of the year, song of the year, best new artist and best pop vocal album. That’s not all. The 18-year-old singer also ended up winning best album of the year award for her album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, and making the award even more special, the singer made history with her win and became the youngest album of the year winner in Grammy history.

Billie Eilish has won the 2020 Grammy for Album of the Year for her debut, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. She won the award over Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Vampire Weekend, H.E.R., and Lil Nas X.

Billie Eilish took home the Best New Artist trophy tonight at the 2020 Grammy Awards. She won over Lil Nas X, Lizzo, ROSALÍA, Maggie Rogers, Tank and the Bangas, Black Pumas, and Yola. In her acceptance speech, Eilish focused on the importance of fans. “Mainly I think the fans deserve everything,” she said. “I feel like they have not been talked a bout enough tonight.” She also addressed the other Best New Artist nominees. “All the other artists that were in this category, I love you all.”

Billie Eilish is quickly making history. 

“When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” is the album of the year.
