The Weeknd has doubled down on his decision to no longer enter his music for future Grammy consideration, despite the Recording Academy’s announcement to eliminate “secret committees”. “Even though I won’t be submitting my music, the Grammys’ recent admission of corruption will hopefully be a positive move for the future of this plagued award and give the artist community the respect it deserves with a transparent voting process,” he said in a May 3 statement to The New York Times.

Linda Chorney I’m not sure how the major labels feel about the Recording Academy finally eliminating the Nomination Review Committees (NRC), but I can promise you that independent artists like me are doing back flips, just like I did the day I was nominated for a Grammy in 2012 for best Americana album — the first in the category without a label, publicist or manager. How the fuck did that happen? There was no NRC in American Roots.

After not receiving any nominations at the 2021 Grammys, The Weeknd vowed to boycott the awards by both refusing to make any appearances and not submitting his music for future consideration. In his statement, The Weekend cited what he viewed as "corruption" in the nominating process as well as the "secret committees" who make the final nominee decisions in the majority of Grammy categories.

This weekend was a tricky one for the Grammys committee as they decided to disband previous nominations and let voters call the final shots by choosing the winners. The decision comes as no surprise as stars like The Weeknd heavily criticised the nominees after his album After Hours failed to make the list.

Over the weekend, the trustees of the Recording Academy voted Friday (April 30) to disband nominations review committees and let Grammy voters have the final say in all non-craft categories.

Grammy Awards have announced that they are ending the “secret” committees responsible for its nomination process. The Recording Academy had faced criticism from artists including previous Grammy-winner The Weeknd, who stated in March that he would be boycotting the ceremony “because of the secret committees”.

Following the allegations of serious misconduct made against Noel Clarke, his Viewpoint co-star Bronagh Waugh has said that if the allegations are true, then she "stands in solidarity" with his accusers.The actress took to her Instagram and Twitter to share her thoughts on the situation and captioned it with a broken heart emoji.The 38 year old began: "I stand in solidarity with the women who have come forward to bravely & courageously tell their story. I am deeply saddened & shocked.
