Ladies and gentlemen: Miss Grace Jones!
The 74-year-old Nightclubbing icon celebrated the launch of her Grace Jones x Boy Smells limited edition candle collaboration on Wednesday night (September 7) at ARTSPACE at PUBLIC Hotel in New York City.
This is Grace‘s first collaboration with a candle brand and is described as a celebration of her legacy, paving the way for Black and queer creators of today.
The night began with an introduction by co-founder Matthew Herman alongside Grace.
“We created this brand to embrace our masculinity at the same time as we embrace our femininity, and that would not be possible – none of this, none of us would be possible – without Grace Jones,” Matthew told the crowd.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 winner Symone then hit the stage for a tribute performance, set to Grace‘s “Williams Blood” and “Slave to the Rhythm.”

Clayton Davis Sam Mendes’ “Empire of Light,” a love story and ode to cinema houses, is dividing critics after playing at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals earlier this month. However, Searchlight Pictures remains confident in its awards prospects. “Empire” is among this season’s divisive films, including “Bardo” from Alejandro G. Iñárritu and “The Son” from Florian Zeller. However, one of the agreed-upon highlights of the film is the quality of the actors’ performances — notably Oscar winner Olivia Colman, breakout star Micheal Ward and veteran actor Toby Jones. As categories become upended with the news of Michelle Williams campaigning for lead actress, instead of supporting, Ward’s campaign is cementing its strategy early by seeking supporting actor consideration for this awards season, Variety has confirmed. Playing Stephen, a young ticket-taker that begins a love affair with Hilary (Colman), a middle-aged woman coming out of a mental health episode, Ward holds his own against the three-time nominee and Oscar winner for “The Favourite” (2018).

Clayton Davis Bathroom stalls, showering marines and flashlights under the sheets encompass A24’s “The Inspection.” While the moving drama could catch the attention of progressive Academy members, others may find the honest subject matter too off-putting. A common denominator is the outstanding performances from Jeremy Pope and Gabrielle Union. As Ellis French, Pope takes the lead of Elegance Bratton’s moving directorial and writing debut “The Inspection,” which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. The A24 film, inspired by true events, is a showcase for Pope and full of “Oscar-clip-worthy” scenes. We’ll see how the circuit treats the film, as Pope will be battling with bigger names such as Hugh Jackman and Colin Farrell for recognition.
