Judas and the Black Messiah took top honors from the African American Film Critics Association, the world's largest group of Black film critics. The film was named best picture, with star Daniel Kaluuya winning best supporting actor for his portrayal of Black Panther Party deputy chairman Fred Hampton and Dominique Fishback named best supporting actress for her role as Deborah Johnson, Hampton's fiancee and mother of his child.

Judas and the Black Messiah's Daniel Kaluuya succumbed to a common problem of Zoom calling at yesterday's (February 28) Golden Globe Awards. Accepting the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture gong for his performance as Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton, Kaluuya's connection failed as the audio didn't broadcast for a little while.
