Gogglebox’s Sophie Sandiford had viewers in tears this week as she began sobbing whilst taking in the footage of the war in Ukraine.
The Channel 4 favourite showed horrific clips from the bombing of Ukraine from Russian forces as shown on BBC News.
The video timeline deeply impacted Sophie as Pete began telling his sister how awful it must be for families to be separated as women and children fled the country while men stayed behind to fight.
Sophie then made a heartbreaking promise to her sibling that she would stay behind with him if there was a war.
Pete said: ‘I don’t know how I’d feel if I got held back, to fight the war. Because what do you do? You can’t go, “No, I’m going,” but by the same token, do I really want to be getting shot at and potentially killed? What’s more valuable to me?’.
Sophie burst in tears as she responded: ‘I’m choking up even thinking about that. ‘Cause I would just stay with you.’
Pete insisted that he wouldn’t let Sophie stay behind in his attempts to console her. ‘No you wouldn’t. F**king wouldn’t let you, you little soft a**e. Stop it you k***head, you’re going to make me cry. We’re here, you f**king idiot!’ he told her.
Sophie added: “I know but it’s just scary.”
Fans of the show were immediately touched by the duo’s close relationship. They took to Twitter to comment, report Birmingham Live.
