Police have confirmed that officers are investigating after a teenager was left injured as violence erupted on a tram before the Manchester City game yesterday.
The violent scenes broke out on a Metrolink service heading towards the Etihad stadium before City's clash with Huddersfield on Sunday (January 7). Video footage showed a number of people becoming caught up in an altercation before a male, wearing a Manchester City t-shirt, was left with a bloodied face after it appeared he was struck.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed that officers were called to the scene to reports of an assault. A teenager suffered a head injury.

He was given first aid by Metrolink staff before being taken to hospital. No arrests have been made at this stage.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 1pm yesterday (Sunday 7 January 2024), officers were called to reports of an assault on a Metrolink service heading towards the Etihad Stadium.
"A teenager who sustained a head injury was given first aid by Metrolink staff before being taken to hospital. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
Head of Metrolink Danny Vaughan previously said the transport service was aware of the incident as he urged any witnesses to contact the police. He added: "The safety of our passengers and staff is absolutely critical and we will be working closely with our Metrolink Operator, KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM) and GMP to assist in any way we can."
