Last year, after years of keeping mum about issues he had with the storytelling in the recent “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, John Boyega spoke out about the treatment that his character, Finn, received in those features. He mentioned how he felt that Disney and Lucasfilm shortchanged the character and didn’t give him powerful, showstopping “moments” to shine, which he felt was particularly troubling because Finn is one of the few Black characters in the franchise.

Attack The Block 2.The original Attack The Block film, which was released in May 2011, was the Star Wars actor’s first major film role.Boyega will reprise his role as Moses in the forthcoming sequel, currently titled Attack The Block 2. The film’s original director Joe Cornish will write and direct the new movie, with Boyega producing along with Nira Park and James Wilson.“Yes Attack The Block 2 is happening!” Boyega wrote on Instagram last night (May 17) announcing the film news.

John Boyega first made waves when he led the Joe Cornish-directed mature science-fiction comedy film “Attack The Block,” an alien invasion comedy similar to Edgar Wright‘s zombie flick “Shaun of The Dead.” The comparison isn’t shocking since Wright was a producer on the film and a longtime friend of Cornish; the pair had co-written Marvel’s “Ant-Man” before exiting the project over creative differences.

John Boyega is heading back to the block where it all began!On Monday, over a decade after the British cult-classic sci-fi film  premiered,  reported that star Boyega is returning for the sequel. The  trilogy actor made his film debut in the 2011 film playing Moses, the leader of a young squad of teenagers who battle a gang of nasty extraterrestrials looking to take over their neighborhood.
